Accommodations for Students with Disabilities: The University of Maryland is committed to
providing appropriate accommodations for students with
disabilities. Please see Dr. Dudash ASAP so we have the
proper paperwork "in hand" and can address any special needs
during the semester. It is the student's responsibility to inform the faculty member in charge of the course IN ADVANCE and no later than at the end of the schedule adjustment period. The UM system policy states "students should
not be penalized because of observances of their religious
beliefs; students shall be given an opportunity, whenever
feasible, to make up within a reasonable time any academic
assignment that is missed due to individual participation in
religious
observances". Academic dishonesty will not be tolerated. The Code of Academic Integrity is laid out in your 1999-2000 Undergraduate Catalog on pp. 44-47. This code was approved by the Campus Senate on Feb. 13, 1989 and amended effective Fall 1994. Definitions of academic dishonesty follow: The web page address is: http://www.inform.umd.edu/jpo/ CHEATING: Intentionally using or attempting to use unauthorized materials, information or study aids in any academic exercise. FABRICATION: Intentional and unauthorized falsification or invention of any information or citation in an academic exercise. FACILITATING ACADEMIC DISHONESTY: Intentionally or knowingly helping or attempting to help another to violate any provision of the Code of Academic Integrity. PLAGIARISM: Intentionally or knowingly representing the words or ideas of another as one's own in any academic exercise. Remember: While we encourage group work and thought in the laboratories, all written lab exercises are to be the works of individuals! Lab reports which are found to be very similar in wording and structure will be considered as plagiarism and appropriate measures will be taken.
