CONCEPTS OF BIOLOGY

WELCOME TO THE BIOLOGY 101 WEBPAGE!

I'm Al Fournier, the instructor for Biology 101 for the Fall 1997 semester. Thanks for visiting our webpage! This is my first experience with creating a webpage, so please bear with me this semester. I welcome any suggestions you may have. Please send them to me via E-mail at af34@umail.umd.edu.

BIOLOGY 101 is an introductory lecture course for the non-science major emphasizing the fundamental processes and interdependence of living organisms and the biological implications associated with human influence in the biological world. (And hopefully, we'll have some fun along the way!) This course satisfies the core requirement for a lab science only when taken concurrently with the Biology 102 lab.

COMMUNICATIONS
Students are required to join the BIOFUN listserv for this class. The listserv is used for classroom communications, including announcements, assignments and lecture outlines. I also post sample study questions to the listserv prior to each exam. Students are encouraged to post questions regarding lectures to the listserv, and to discuss topics of biological interest. The Biofun Listserv address is BIOFUN@UMDD.UMD.EDU.
For directions on how to join the listserv, see the course syllabus.
