Grading:
3 Quizzes (60 pts each) | 180 points
1 Unknown Report | 50 points
Oral Presentation and T.A. Evaluation | 20 points
TOTAL LAB POINTS | 250 points |
Attendance:
Laboratory attendance is absolutely mandatory. If you are going to be absent from a lab, you must provide your T.A. with a written doctor's note or proof of a University approved excuse. If space permits, a student may attend another section if arrangements with both T.A.s have been made. There will be no make up labs.
Three unexcused absences will result in a failure in BSCI 424.
Every unexcused absence less than three will result in a one percentage point reduction from the students final grade.
Safety:
In the laboratory, students will deal with living bacterial cultures and chemical reagents which are potentially hazardous. Rigid adherence to prescribed procedures is necessary. Failure to comply with directions could be harmful and any inappropriate behavior will result in dismissal from the course. An examination covering laboratory safety covering rules found in the lab manual will be administered in your second laboratory class. Failure to pass this exam (<70%) after two attempts will result in dismissal from the course.
Submission of Unknown Reports:
Unknown reports will be handed in to T.A.s in lab on 12/11 (Daytime Course) or 12/12 (Science in the Evening Course). Unknown reports received after these deadlines will not be accepted.
