Deep Green College ParkThe Computational Challenges of Green Plant PhylogenyJune 2 & 3, 2000, University of Maryland - College Park Sponsored by the Green Plant Phylogeny Research Coordination (Deep Green) Group and UMIACS Research in green plant phylogeny has advanced greatly in recent years. Following the 1999 International Botanical Congress in St. Louis, MO, several large datasets relevant to green plant phylogeny have been published, and several biological questions have emerged as critical to an understanding of the evolution of green plants. The goal of this workshop is to bring together computer scientists, theoreticians, and plant systematists to discuss specific computational and analytical challenges and their significance to green plant phylogeny. Topics
ChallengesTo stimulate discussion, workshop participants are encouraged to tackle specific analytical challenges. These are intended to include computational, analytical, and botanical problems which are perceived to be important and difficult. The first Deep Green Challenges are now posted! ScheduleFriday June 2
