Message from the Chair
The first days of summer break are an excellent time to reflect on the academic year that ended a couple weeks ago. Our first year of the Brin Mathematics Research Center was a wonderful success, with over 200 visitors to different workshops and activities, and this is only the beginning!
Over the past four years, we hired an astonishing number of new professors: 17! This year, we welcomed four new professors—Tristan Buckmaster, Abba Gumel, Deep Ray, Haizhao Yang—and one new lecturer, Jamie Conway. Several new staff members also joined our department: Anais Bardyn, Natalie Kinnear, Jemma Natanson and Victoria VillaFranco. We also celebrated the retirements of Dave Levermore, Paul Smith and Sara Moran.
For the first time, our college held two commencement ceremonies—so twice the festivities! Congratulations to all of our August, December and May graduates! We look forward to hearing about all the wonderful things you do next. Please come back and visit us frequently! Wishing you a great summer break.
