About the Institute for Health Computing (IHC)
The IHC is a strategic initiative that aims to improve well-being and quality of life, diminish disease, and enhance health outcomes for all citizens of Maryland.

Founding partner institutions include the University of Maryland, College Park; the University of Maryland, Baltimore; and the University of Maryland Medical System.

The IHC merges top-tier computational expertise and biomedical research with a vast and geographically diverse clinical care network into a force for health care innovation. Major initiatives include machine learning algorithms to study emerging disease and risk stratification, electronic health record analysis to identify early signs of disease, pragmatic adaptive clinical trials and immersive computing.

Funding support comes from strategic partner Montgomery County, Maryland, and from the state of Maryland’s MPowering the State initiative.
