Leslie is the the lead coordinator between all the network partners. Leslie's background is in butterfly ecology and her interests are in using butterfly data to understand how ecological communities respond to climate and land-use change.

Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum
Doug is the lead of the Illinois Butterfly Monitoring Network and is also the lead coordinator between the transect-based programs that are part of this network. Doug has been instrumental in helping many of the new transect programs get off the ground.

North American Butterfly Association
Jeff is the president of the North American Butterfly Association, which he formed in 1992. Jeff has written several guide books for North American butterflies, including starting the "through binoculars" series that has revolutionized the way people learn about and experience butterflies and other insects in nature.

Karen has been studying monarchs since 1984. She is an Associate Professor of Department of Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Biology at University of Minnesota. She is the director of the Monarch Lab which runs the Monarch Larvae Monitoring Project and also Monarchs in the Classroom. She is also a founding member of MonarchNet.

Cornell Lab of Ornithology
Paul Allen was the leader of the Avian Knowledge Network at the Cornell Lab, a project that offers access to multiple large-scale bird data sets. Paul is an advisor on our project and brings years of experience on how to develop data systems for managment and access for citizen-science data.

Harvard Forest
Greg is a researcher who has worked extensively on both movement and climate ecology. He has used the Massachussets data to do an extensive analysis on the impacts of climate on the butterfly community. Greg used data extracted from the Massachussets list-serve, another potential wide-spread data source.

Helmholz Center - UFZ
Guy is one of the coordinators of the Israeli Butterfly Monitoring Scheme. As a researcher at the Helmholz Center in Leipzig, Germany, he has also spear-headed an effort to develop a network of European butterfly monitoring schemes. This effort has resulted in a working group of butterfly monitoring networks throughout the world that will include several meetings in Paris over the next 2 years. Guy is our link to European Butterfly Monitoring Scheme and is helping standardize our protocols as much as possible to align with European methods.

Lori is the Chief Information Officer of NatureServe. NatureServe is helping us to develop our data standards and planning for our data infrastructure so we can make sure we are meeting standards for storing and sharing biodiversity data and also will be able to easily transfer data tools to other groups.
