Message from the Chair
Welcome to the inaugural issue of our Math Department newsletter, where we will share stories about our alumni, students, faculty and staff!
With over 800 Math majors (out of which 40% are women), 200 Ph.D. students, and approximately 10,000 students enrolled in our courses every semester, we are the largest teaching unit on campus. Over the past year our research programs have yielded many high-impact publications and awards. We hosted several exciting events, including a Jubilee of Fourier Analysis, celebrating John Benedetto’s 80th birthday. Our alumni, students, postdocs, and faculty have been recognized with many awards, including the Clay Research Award, the Peter Lax Award, and the Chevalley Prize. These are great days to engage in Mathematics.
I invite you to read on for news about our alumni, faculty, research and more! ~Doron
