Example of How to Paraphrase

From page 544:
Smaller individuals of L. aurea sheltered in narrower gaps, sheltered deeper in the brick pile, and sheltered where the minimum temperature was higher.  The occupancy of tighter gaps by smaller frogs may be possible because of their smaller size.  They may have selected tighter gaps to reduce their risk of predation, because their smaller size would allow a wider variety of predators to eat them.  Smaller frogs also may have selected positions where the minimum temperature was higher because smaller individuals would lose heat from their bodies faster than larger frogs, as a result of the higher surface to volume ratio.

Hamer, A.J., S.J. Lane, and M.J. Mahony. 2003. Retreat site selection during winter in the green and golden bell frog, Litoria aurea Lesson.  Journal of Herpetology. 37: 541-545.

Notes:

Sentence:  Small frogs such as Litoria aurea choose shelters with narrow gaps and high temperatures so that they can escape predation as well as stay warm (Hamer et al. 2003).
