Make sure the keep the authors in the same order as they are listed on the paper or book. This is because authors are listed in order of contribution to the paper, so being the first author is important. If the author has two authors, put “and” between the names in both the Literature Cited and in the text. If the article or book has more than two authors, list all of the authors in the Literature Cited, but just write the first author’s last name, followed by “et al.” and the year in the text.

Reference to the work of others is always acceptable when properly cited, but constitutes plagiarism otherwise. To cite literature within your text, place the citation at the end of the sentence in parentheses. The citation must include the author’s last name and the year of publication.
