Welcome
to BSCI 440, Mammalian Physiology!
The entire course staff is looking forward to the
start of the Spring 2004 semester and meeting all
of you. The course is almost full, so expect
to see >180 of your closest friends in lecture.
Dr. Higgins is NOT
the person to see about changing sections or receiving
an over-subscription. All registration questions
and problems should be referred to the Department
of Biology Undergraduate Office, BPS 2227 (x 5-6904).
Please click on the link
to the Syllabus
found elsewhere on this page, and read it carefully.
Make sure you understand what lies ahead.
Now go to the Lecture
Topics and Readings. Note that
the first section of this document outlines a body
of material that you covered in the prerequisite
course, BSCI 230.
**Before we begin, you must review the concepts found in
Chapter 5 (Chemical Messengers),
Chapter 6 (Nerve Cells and Electrical Signaling),
and Chapter 7 (Synaptic Transmission)
to strengthen the understanding you obtained in
BSCI 230. You should also work with the Muscle,
Nervous System I and II modules of the CD.
Do not wait, do it immediately, before the semester
begins. Please! We will briefly review
this material in lecture at a rapid pace.
The under-prepared will soon be lost! Stay
tuned.**
Enjoy the final days
of this Winter respite. See you @ 9:00 AM
(be on time!) on 26 January in HJP 0226.
