Lecture Examinations:

Lecture examinations account for 400 out of the 800 points possible for the course.

Midterms

There are two midterms, each is worth 100 points. The format of each midterm will be described in class.

Final

The final exam will be worth 200 points.

Make-up lecture examinations

Midterm make-up exams will be permitted only for those who notify the head instructor in advance that they will be unable to take the scheduled exam. Exceptions will be made for students who for some important and unforeseeable reason are unable to take the scheduled exam (medical slip or other documentation required). Unless prior arrangements have been made, it is the student's responsibility to inform the head instructor within 48 hours of a missed lecture exam (unless for compelling reasons you are unable to do so).

NOTE: Make-up exams will be given for athletic reasons only when there is a direct, unavoidable game conflict (Note from coach required). Make-up exams will not be given to accommodate practice schedules, nor for time constraints caused by demands placed on your study time by other classes or activities.

Regrade Requests

For both lecture and laboratory work, regrades will be considered only if the original was written in pen. Some exams may be photocopied before they are returned.

If you feel you were graded incorrectly on an exam, you should pursue the following procedure to obtain a regrade:

1) Refer to the answer key (which will be posted the day of the exam), to make sure you know what the correct answer is.

2) If you still feel that your answer was incorrectly graded, discuss it with your teaching assistant.

3) If this does not clear things up, return the exam to your teaching assistant along with a written explanation of why you feel you should have received more points, and including reference to the posted answer key. He or she will pass it along to the lecturer.

Important Note: The firm deadline for regrade requests is ONE WEEK after the graded exam was made available (regardless of when you actually pick it up.
